Video advertising in the digital age can be a super effective way to connect with our audience and customers to showcase our products and business. As you know, creating impactful video ads usually requires an experienced content team with equipment like quality cameras and green screens. However, nowadays we can use AI tools to create these ads with minimal cost, without a production team or equipment.
In this article, I’ll teach you everything from start to finish on how to make a video ad using AI tools, so you can create any ad you want to promote your product and business.
Steps for Creating a Video Ad:
- Product Images: First, we need some promotional images of the product. We can create these using AI tools like Canva.
- Character or Avatar: We need a character or avatar to explain the product. You can create this using AI text-to-image tools or use a personal photo.

- Simple Text: Find or write a simple script to introduce the product. You can use ChatGPT for this or write it yourself.
- Voiceover: For adding voice to the video, you have two options: record your own voice reading the script, or use AI tools to convert text to speech.
- Combine Image and Audio: Use a tool like heygen.com to turn images into videos and sync the audio.
- Final Edits: Do the final editing with a powerful tool like capcut.com.
Tools Needed for Video Ad Production:
To make an effective video ad, you need banners and brochures with product details and images. That’s why we used Canva. It’s super easy to use—just pick a template that fits your theme, swap in your own photos and text, and change the colors.
We’ve picked a few templates that fit our work. We click on the side of the template we want, which looks like …, and from the menu, we choose “Open in a New Tab” to get into the template editing section.
Once we’re on the image editing page, we can replace our product picture by selecting “Upload” and clicking “upload file.”
After choosing a suitable template, we changed the product image and its description. Like the picture below:
Here, we want to create a promotional video for a bedding set, so we swapped out the images and changed the colors. You can make a lot of changes in Canva.
Next, we need an avatar and a person to introduce the product. We’ll use an AI tool to convert text to an image. We’re using StableDiffusionWeb. Just write the prompt with the characteristics you want for the product presenter in the video, and AI will generate the image. You can also search Google for an avatar image without AI.
We’re going with AI here. First, log in to StableDiffusionWeb with your Gmail.
Our prompt is: “A male visitor, good-looking with blond hair, white background, blue eyes, blond stubble, rather long hair, short-sleeved black shirt.” It created two nice images; you can choose and download either one.
Next, we need to remove the background from our avatar to place it on the video without a background. We’ve listed the 20 best background removal tools, and you can use any of them. We’re choosing bgsub.com. It’s easy—just go to the main page, click “launch bgsub,” upload your image, and it will remove the background for you.
This is our avatar image for the promotional video, which can boost your product sales.
The next step is preparing the promotional video script. We can use ChatGPT-4 to create the script for the avatar to narrate. The issue is that ChatGPT-4 isn’t free, so we suggest using the free AI chatbot on poe.com. Log in with your Gmail, choose ChatGPT-4, and ask it to write a detailed description of the wooden bedding set.
Poe will give us a great descriptive text for the bedding set we want to sell.
The crucial next step is turning the avatar and the script into a video. We’ll use the powerful and free AI tool heygen.com.
To start, enter the AI Studio section.
To add an avatar, go to the “avatar” section and select “photo avatar” to upload the avatar we prepared. If you don’t have an avatar, you can use one of Heygen’s ready-made ones, which work great in videos.
Next, in the “script” section, insert the text prepared by ChatGPT-4, and set the language, accent, and voice type.
Then, click “submit” and wait for your avatar video to be ready.
Finally, we use the AI editing tool CapCut to create the promotional video. You can use it on mobile, desktop, or online.
First, add the promotional image, then the avatar video, and use the AI tool to remove the avatar background. Edit the video by adding effects and music.
Once we export the edited video, we’ll have a promotional video ready to share on social media.
